For Dustin, educating borrowers and making sure they understand their options is at the heart of his approach to mortgage lending. Buying a home can come with unfamiliar terminology, financial decisions and plenty of questions, and Dustin believes borrowers should feel informed and confident throughout the process.

Dustin began his financial career in the insurance industry before moving into mortgage lending. He was drawn to the mortgage business because of the opportunity to help people take an important next step in their lives: becoming homeowners.

Since entering the mortgage industry, Dustin has gained experience assisting and processing loans for top-producing Loan Officers while also building relationships with real estate professionals in his own community. That experience has given him a well-rounded understanding of the mortgage process, from identifying the right loan program to determining what assistance may be available to help borrowers reach their goals.

A Mortgage Approach Built Around Education

Rather than simply recommending a loan program, Dustin takes the time to understand a borrower's needs, wants and goals and then helps them explore the financing options that may fit their situation. His goal is to make sure borrowers understand what they are doing, why they are doing it, and what to expect at each stage of the process.

That approach can be particularly valuable for first-time homebuyers, who may be navigating a mortgage for the first time. Dustin enjoys helping borrowers understand the homebuying process and identify programs that can make homeownership more attainable.

His experience includes first-time homebuyer programs, non-QM mortgage solutions, low-income lending and down payment assistance, and grant programs. He is particularly interested in helping borrowers take advantage of available assistance programs that may help reduce the upfront costs associated with buying a home.

Dustin also understands the importance of having a knowledgeable team behind every loan. He works alongside experienced mortgage professionals who help manage the loan from application through closing, giving borrowers the support they need throughout the transaction.

Serving Indiana and Michigan Homebuyers

With lending capabilities in all 50 states, Dustin primarily serves borrowers in South Bend and Elkhart, Indiana, as well as Kalamazoo and Grand Rapids, Michigan.

He is focused on building strong relationships within these communities and working with local real estate professionals to help more buyers understand their mortgage options. His goal is to become a trusted resource for borrowers and realtors alike, particularly when a client may need a less traditional financing solution or assistance with the upfront costs of purchasing a home.

Dustin's experience also includes exposure to the non-QM lending space through his involvement with the South Bend Real Estate Investors Association. That background has helped expand his understanding of financing options outside traditional mortgage programs, and the different needs borrowers can bring to the table.

Life Outside of Lending

Dustin brings the same energy and curiosity to his life outside of work.

He is an avid fisherman and active camper who enjoys spending time outdoors. He is also a regular pickleball player and soccer player and has participated in recreational leagues through the YMCA. He is a retired snowboarder and even enjoys competing in chess tournaments.

More recently, home improvement projects have become an unexpected hobby, giving Dustin another reason to appreciate the work that goes into making a house feel like home.

Family is at the center of Dustin's life. He is a husband and father of two boys, and he says his family influences almost every decision he makes. The family also includes two dogs, and their love of animals has led Dustin and his family to volunteer regularly at local animal shelters.

He also volunteers at a local food pantry, giving his time to organizations that support people and families in his community.

For Dustin, the idea of finding a home extends beyond the walls of a house. He wants to help borrowers find a place where their families can grow, create memories, and build the next chapter of their lives.
